When does the team meet?

The team meets every Saturday at 11am. You can join us in person in Institute Hall, or by zoom with links provided in our slack channel.

How does the team communicate?

The team primarily uses Slack as our main method of communication. You can find our workspace through RIT Slack Enterprise at rit-launch-initiative.slack.com. If you are unable to find us, please send an email to [email protected] using your RIT email.

Who can join?

Any RIT students are welcome to join the Launch Initiative, no experience needed. You can apply concepts you learned in class, or work on whatever you are passionate for. There are plenty of opportunities to learn about rocketry manufacturing, circuit design, and even coding as part of the team.

What can I do?

Our team is split into multiple project teams, tackling challenges like flight avionics development, rocket manufacturing, and propulsion theory. There are also multiple opportunities to learn new skills, broaden your engineering tool set, and even earn certifications in High-Powered Rocketry from the National Association of Rocketry through our L1 Training Program.
About Us
For new members specifically, we offer the Space Race program, to help learn the fundamentals of high-powered rocketry while designing and building a rocket as a team.

What is the time commitment?

There are team-wide meetings every Saturday from 11:00am to 12:00pm, in addition to 1-2 hours of weekly meetings depending on what project(s) you join. There is no limit to how much time you can commit to the team, although we do recommend a minimum of 4 hours per week.

How can I learn more about what the team does?

You can read about our past projects and the team as a whole on our website, or check out our social media, linked below.
