What was FLDSMDFR?

A space race rocket who borrowed its name from the machine in the iconic movie Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. This rocket was built by first time team members in 2023-2024 and launched in April 2024. The group who built this rocket called themselves Public Unsafety after the campus police at RIT. This rocket unfortunately faced motor failure and was accidentally launched due to new URRG hardware. This caused the rocket to, like it's namesake, blow up.

Who is Steve?

.The party module required lights and music. The poly carb section of the tube was also designed to hold the camera to be able to record the flight. Unfortunately due to the accidentally launch the camera was not recording at the time and there is no footage from inside the rocket. The speaker requirements included playing music from an SD card and being self powered. One speakers fit these requirements while staying inside the budget and that was a pink speaker with a raccoon on it. The racoon was fondly named Steve after a character in Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. Steve played Free Bird, Rocket Man, Getaway Car and Funky Town. The explosion left the payloads mostly intact with the exception of the speaker. The speaker, until the battery died, would only play the Free Bird guitar solo.
